GENERAL INFORMATION
Introduction
As host of this years conference Anachemia Science would like to take this
opportunity to invite you to the 41st Annual Canadian Mineral Analysts
(CMA) Conference and Exhibit. The conference and exhibit will be held at
the Fairmont Winnipeg, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada from Monday, September
14 th to Wednesday, 16 th, 2009. The conference features:

- Trade Show and Exhibits

The CMA Conference and Exhibit is an annual event that provides a unique opportunity for analysts, technicians, and managers employed in analytical laboratories to exchange ideas and technical expertise, and to develop lasting contacts with their colleagues in the mining industry and with manufacturers and suppliers of analytical instrumentation and related products and services.
The CMA promotes the communication of analytical technology in the Canadian mining industry and the professional development of its members as well as providing financial assistance to students enrolled in mineral science programs at Canadian colleges and universities and who have demonstrated their academic ability and their firm commitment to pursue a career in the mining industry.
Technical and Informational Presentations
Speakers will present technical papers on a variety of topics ranging from sampling methods, decomposition techniques, advances in analytical methods, analysis of environmental samples, health and safety, quality assurance, reference samples, data management, and laboratory certification. As they become available technical presentations and abstracts will be included on updates on the CMA 2009 conference web page.
Workshops
The workshops planned for the CMA 2009 Conference will be held at The
Fairmont Winnipeg on Monday September 14, 2009. There will be two
half-day workshops. The Monday morning session will discuss Sampling
Techniques and Trace Element Analysis as presented by Hach.
The afternoon session will be presented by Thermo Orion and will
address pH Sampling Techniques and Care and Maintenance of Electrodes.
The cost per workshop is $75.00 or $125.00 for those wishing to attend
both. Both workshops include a coffee break and lunch.
Exhibitor Registration
Twenty- five exhibit booth spaces are available. Location and
availability will be on a first-come, first-paid basis
(Some booths have already been reserved). All booths have electrical
outlet, table, chair(s) and skirted if required (Internet connections
may be available upon request). Booth price is $300.00CDN, and
$150.00CDN for each person in the exhibit booth up to a maximum of
two persons.

Delegate Registration
Delegate registration cost will be $200.00CDN for CMA members.
Non-member registration is $240.00CDN. A CMA membership is $40.00CDN.
Registrants are required to fill out the “Delegate Registration” form
(one per delegate). Payment is by cheque payable to “CMA 2009” or by cash.
Deadline for registration is August 1, 2009. No refunds will be issued for
cancellation requests received after August 28, 2009.
All limited activities (exhibitor booths, delegate registrations, workshops,
tours and social events) will be guaranteed by first payment.
Please note that non-CMA members are subject to an additional conference
registration fee of $40. An “Application for Membership” form at CDN$40 is
available for the CMA 2009 conference registrants only. The completed form
and fees can be submitted with your conference registration. Regular CMA
membership is available for purchase at any time throughout the year by
visiting www.canadianmineralanalysts.com
Student Registration
Reduced rates are available for students who can verify that they are
currently enrolled at an Academic institution. Reduced registration fees
are $100.00CDN for students that are currently CMA members, and $140.00CDN
for those that are not. A CMA membership is $40.00CDN. Students will be
asked to verify they are registered students.
Tours
Tours have been organized in conjunction with the CMA 2009 Conference and
Exhibit, and will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2009 in the morning and
afternoon. We will be offering 2 tours of the G/C Royal Canadian Mint (one in
the morning and one in the afternoon) and a morning tour of the Lower Fort
Garry Historic Site. You must be a registered delegate to participate in a
tour. One guest per delegate will be allowed. Space is limited therefore
notification of cancellations would be appreciated so those on the waiting
list can be accommodated. Tours will originate and end at the Fairmont
Winnipeg. Transportation will be provided.
Golf Tournament
An 18 hole Golf Tournament has been planned for Monday Sept. 14, 2009 at a
course to be determined. Deadline for registration is August. 1/2009. If
there are less than 16 participants the event will be cancelled.
Guest Program
Although there is no formal guest program available, the organizing
committee will provide number of brochures with suggestions for shopping,
site-seeing and tourist attractions available in and around Winnipeg.
Guests accompanying the delegates have the opportunity to participate in
any of the social events and other activities by purchasing Guest Event
Tickets as indicated on the “Delegate Registration” form.

These events may be included in the registration cost or must be requested
on the “Delegate Registration form or Exhibitor Registration” form.

Best Technical Paper and Best Exhibitor Booth
Delegates are allowed one vote for the Best Technical Paper and one for the
Best Exhibitor Booth. The ballots will be included in each delegate’s
“Welcome” bag.

A block of rooms has been reserved at The Fairmont Winnipeg, Two Lombard
Place for attendees of the CMA 2009. Room rates here for a moderate guest
room are $142.00/night (based on single or double occupancy). Fairmont
Guest rooms and Fairmont Gold Guestrooms are also available upon request
when booking with the hotel for $182.00/night and $242.00/night respectively
